Hellyer & Hulme

Anne Hellyer:
I love paint and I love textiles and I combine the two in my work. I hand paint all the fabric I use and then print the finer details, and embellish with machine stitch. My love of buildings made these a natural choice of subject for my work.

Alison Hulme:
I screen print all my fabric and each length of fabric is just enough for one pinny, making each one unique, no two are the same. I also make beautiful capacious bags using the same technique.

At Doodlestop we make innovative tools for fibre artists such as knitters, crocheters, weavers, spinners, dyers and felters.
We design and make nearly everything ourselves from our home in rural Cambridgeshire, and pride ourselves on finding solutions to problems.
Some of our favourite products are:
Our adjustable sock blockers mean that you can block handmade socks to exactly the right size, and our hugely popular project journals for knitting, crochet, spinning, dyeing and weaving. We also have a range of swifts and yarn dispensers, drop spindles and wpi gauges, and all manner of tools and gifts.

Millholme Parc Farm

I am a sheep farmer who is passionate about the versatility of sheep and wishes to ensure that her sheep are used for their many aspects. I keep 9 different breeds, many for their fleeces, but I also keep Zwartble’s as they are milking sheep and also some for their meat quality.

This interest has led to my business diversifying and I now sell my fleeces direct to crafters. I have some processed into wool, which I use to make bespoke clothing items, this I also link with my love of needle-felting. I  use needle felting to produce sculptures and pictures. I now also run regular classes in needle-felting.
