The Ragwaste Collective

The Ragwaste Collective is a social enterprise that empowers women from some of the most marginalised areas of India and the UK. We are passionate about reducing the impact of textile waste on our environment and do this through creative upcycling projects.
We teach community groups different ways to upcycle waste materials and create sustainable products. These products are then sold and proceeds are reinvested back into the community groups to help develop their infrastructure. Communities that are engaged in the Ragwaste project benefit from a sense of community cohesion and learn new practical skills.
We are currently working with the Sakhi Navnirman Charitable Trust from Mumbai . The Trust empowers women from the Malad slums in Mumbai to make bags from waste fabrics. The Ragwaste project aims to help develop the working conditions for these young women through raising awareness and proceeds from the sale of the bags.
